Objectives:
- To serve the needy persons with blood in case of emergency.
- Educating the community on the beneficial aspects of blood donation.
- Encourage volunteer blood donation & gradually eliminate professional blood donors.
The Context:
The students as well as villagers are not aware of the importance and usefulness of blood donation activity. As well as some living donors not knowing the basic conditions of blood donation. They include Hb count as well as body weight. In these two circumstances both persons should be properly convinced and guided.
The Practice:
The institute contributes a lion share in the health problems of our society by arranging blood donation camps annually. On 31st Dec,2021, is the Death Anniversary of Founder of Institute Hon. Dada alias Chandrahar Patil. To make this day memorable as well as socially beneficial the institute arranges blood donation camps every year. The blood banks either private or governments are invited for this purpose.
On this day there are a lot of programs on campus. For blood donation the wiling persons start inquiring before 2-3 days. They are students, Alumni students, Teachers, Staff members, Villagers and followers of Hon.Dada.
Evidence of Success:
Collection of blood bags in this year (2021-22) is 50.it was to show the student’s staff, Alumni are more aware about Blood donation. After Covide-19 its awareness increased. The result shows that a huge blood donor gave their blood. And stored various blood group blood.
Problems Encountered:
- The wiling persons are less in number
- Majority of girls-donors are have Hb count unsatisfactory.
- Girls are having improper body weight
- Lack of efficient transportation
Objectives:
- To improve yield
- To access recent technologies.
- To conserve the environment.
- To conserve the fertility of soil.
The Context:
Being a drought prone area the crops here are usually cultivated that demand less water. As a result farmers have inadequate financial support by this crops. They always in need of money. They are reluctant to participate in such gathering, since it affects their daily employments. Besides this challenges we succeed in gathering farmers.
The Practice:
Agriculture is the art & science of cultivating various crops. It includes the analysis of soil & water. Both are key factors for beneficial farming. The contents of soil as well as water vary from one part of the region to another.
Retesting of soil and water once in five years provides a yield and allows tweaking management in time. Understanding the chemical properties of soil and water can help the farmers to decide what to grow? Which contents to add and how much more yield? For farming determining levels of nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium, Magnesium & calcium are the necessary micronutrient measurements. Soil sampling for annual crops
should be taken after the harvest because farmers have plenty of time to plan crop management. This is the best time for soil & water analysis.
Evidence of Success:
Total 8 farmers are participating in the gathering. Almost all farmers agree with the improper use of chemical fertilizers, which are blamed for low yield, poor soil health and water pollution. They also agree that their expenditure on fertilizers is much more than needed. That’s why the Government of India invested in a large scale program for soil and water testing with hope that proper information will lead farmers to optimize their fertilizer mix.
Problems Encountered:
- The farmers with more confidence have lower willingness to pay for soil testing and fertilizer usage to the recommended amount.
- Some farmers provide excess fertilizers, micro-nutrients to soil, but it affects the quality of soil, yield of crop too. Though, this was our first year of running this activity. We are hopeful for better response by farmers in subsequent years.
